In this humorous piece, Greenfield takes a page from the campaign notebook he employed for Tom Bradley's campaign to become mayor of Los Angeles, when the candidate directly addressed the political fears of voters. This piece turns the clock forward, offering a vision of what a "blatantly political" ad would look like coming from this year's Democratic candidates: Greenfield provides fictitious advertisements for John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, with the latter offering "the most intriguing possibility." The imagined Obama ad features Red State Democrats appealing to voters on the grounds that he is the only candidate capable of winning in their states.
